For handymen to construction workers, having the right tools is important to completing a job. Not only will the right masonry tools make life easier for yourself but it will also help to make the project turn out successfully. It is up to you to pick the right masonry tools for the job but I thought I would give some quick definitions of the many tools out there so you are better suited for success.
Tamper: flat tool used to press aggregate into concrete or helpful in flattening surfaces before concrete is added.
Cement Mixer: self explanatory. Some devices are powered electrically others by gas.
Bull Float: similar to a rake but for concrete. Will help level the surface after a concrete pour.
Darby: another tool to level concrete but this one is used after screeding (technique of putting a board over cement to even it out).
Masonry Chisel: can be used to destroy or clean up edges of concrete surfaces. Also helpful in scoring a wet surface.
Pointing Trowel: looks like a spade and used for making small concrete repairs.
There are many more masonry tools out there but these are the basics. |
