So you own a garage full of masonry tools. You may know how to use of them and what job calls for what but I bet you didn’t know some of these facts I am about to reel off to you. Next time you and your buddies are using concrete equipment you can start regurgitating these facts.
- Masonry tools are more than that, along with them is a deep rooted fraternity that stretches way back in time.
- General Franco of Spain was one of many dictators that hated the masonry fraternity. His dad and brother were masons but that did not stop him from killing every single one that he or his army ran into.
- About 5300 miles of Roman Empire road was created with concrete.
- Romans mixed their concrete with small chunks of gravel and coarse sand blended with lime, water and horse hair.
- Boats throughout history have been made out of cement. The oldest known cement boat was Joseph Lambot’s in 1848 shown in the 1855 World’s Fair.
- It took 467 ready-mixed cement trucks to lay the foundation for the Seattle Space Needle.
